Paris with Dior: Why Some Dreams Take Time

-

I just touched down in Paris for the Dior Cruise 2019 show, and I can’t help but feel sentimental. Being here with Dior again feels like such a privilege, one I’ll never take for granted. Every time I’m invited to a major show like this, I have to pinch myself—it’s a true honor, and that feeling never fades. But what makes it even sweeter is remembering where this all began.

Looking Back to Last Year

It was just last May that I flew to Los Angeles for my very first Cruise show: Dior Cruise 2018. I can still picture it vividly—dancing barefoot on the beach as the sun melted into the horizon, moments before the Dior Surf Party began. It felt surreal, like stepping inside a dream I’d quietly held onto for years.

Attending a Cruise show had always been high on my wishlist, but here’s the thing: no matter how much I wanted it, it wasn’t something I could make happen on my own. In fashion, as in life, timing is everything. These moments arrive when the stars align—not by forcing them into place.

What “Waiting Patiently” Really Means

When I say I had to wait patiently, I don’t mean I was sitting around hoping Dior would someday knock on my door. Quite the opposite. The path here was paved with years of work—creating content, building meaningful partnerships, and showing up day after day with dedication.

Patience, in this case, meant trusting that all that work would someday pay off. Because ultimately, the decision to invite me wasn’t mine—it was the brand’s. All I could do was give my best, consistently, and hope that eventually, Dior would see me as part of their story.

And when it finally happened, it was more than just a career milestone. It was a reminder that persistence matters, that hard work lays the foundation, and that sometimes the most rewarding moments arrive after years of quiet effort.

A New Chapter with Chanel

This year brought another full-circle moment: my very first Chanel Cruise show. It took seven years from the day I started Thefashionguitar.com to finally be there, experiencing that magic firsthand. Seven years of learning, of growing, of building connections in ways that can’t be rushed.

And honestly? That’s what makes it special. If it had all happened overnight, maybe it wouldn’t mean as much. The waiting, the years of “not yet,” give these moments their weight. They remind me to stay grateful and to never mistake these invitations as routine. Because they’re not.

The Work Behind the Magic

From the outside, I know it might not always look like hard work. A beautiful show in Paris, an Instagram post from the front row—it can seem effortless, maybe even indulgent. But the truth is, this is a never-ending job. The pace is relentless. There’s no real “off switch,” because fashion moves quickly and digital content never sleeps.

But here’s the thing: I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love this work—truly, madly, deeply. Over and over again. Even in the moments when it’s exhausting, it’s also exhilarating. That’s the paradox of chasing your passion: it demands everything, but gives so much back.

Grateful, Always

So here I am in Paris again, reflecting on how much has unfolded in just a year. Dior, Chanel, the milestones I once only dreamed about—now woven into my story. None of it feels normal, and I hope it never does.

These are the moments I’ll always treasure: not just for the glamour or the spectacle, but for what they represent. They’re reminders of why I started, how far I’ve come, and the magic that can happen when hard work and patience finally meet.

I’ll be sharing all the highlights of my Paris stay with Dior over on Instagram, so if you want to see the shows, the details, and maybe a little behind-the-scenes sparkle, follow along there.

For now, I’m simply savoring this moment—because dreams like this deserve to be felt, fully.
